Virginia Cancer Institute has been recognized as meeting the highest standards for cancer care under the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program. The Richmond-based practice is the first in Central Virginia to earn this designation. Only 108 practices nationwide hold this certification. The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO®) developed QOPI® certification. The program began in January 2010 and is the first of its kind for outpatient oncology in the United States.
