Patient Care Philosophy:
In oncology care, I meet patients where they are, emotionally and medically through every stage of their diagnosis. My approach emphasizes clear communication, comfort with treatment decisions, and empowering each individual to be an informed and confident advocate for their care
Emily is a family nurse practitioner with a strong clinical foundation in critical care and a focused interest in malignant and non-malignant hematology. Her clinical interests include advancements in gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and small cell lung cancer therapies, as well as the delivery of comprehensive oncology care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients throughout all stages of treatment.
Emily’s background as a critical care registered nurse informs her meticulous, patient-centered approach to oncology care. She emphasizes clear communication, shared decision-making, and patient education to ensure individuals feel informed and supported in their treatment choices. She is particularly committed to integrating evidence-based oncology care with a holistic framework that supports overall well-being. Emily is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bon Secours College of Nursing and her Masters of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys baking sourdough, gardening, walking her Llewellin Setter, and exploring local antique shops. During the summer months, she enjoys spending time by the river, fishing, and enjoying blue crabs with family and friends.
