Jennifer Ryan is a dedicated nurse practitioner with over eight years of experience as an inpatient oncology nurse and nurse practitioner. Passionate about survivorship and improving the quality of life for her patients, she excels in managing complex cases and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.
After graduating from Longwood University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Jennifer began her career working in the Acute Oncology Unit within the VCU Health System. While in a leadership role, she developed a strong foundation in hematology/oncology, including different diagnosis, treatment regimens, disease and treatment complications. In 2022, she
earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating summa cum laude. She focused on management of long term complications of patient’s treatment history for their oncologic diagnosis, including opioid management, tobacco cessation, addiction counseling, and genetic counseling.
Jennifer belongs to professional organizations including the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, the Clinical Cancer Genomics Community of Practice, and the Oncology Nursing Society. She also has a special interest in genetics and hematology. As a nurse practitioner with the VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Cancer Survivorship Program, she participated in research to enhance early cancer detection through innovative methodologies.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, family, friends, and her beloved dog, Dexter. Whether exploring new restaurants and breweries, walking, traveling, or visiting family in Boston, she embraces life with energy and curiosity.
