Treating patients like family is at the heart of Dr. Trent’s patient care philosophy. His background in research gives him great interest in clinical trials, which he believes are the driving force behind cutting-edge medical treatment. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and serves on national panels for thrombosis and lung cancer.
Dr. Trent’s education began with a BS in biology from the University of Cincinnati. He went on to receive his PhD in physiology and subsequently his MD from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond. He remained at the VCU Medical Center for a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology/oncology. He has practiced with Hematology & Oncology Associates of Virginia, in Richmond, and served as the medical director of the Center for Breast Care at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. He is a member of the Richmond Blood Club and the Richmond Academy of Medicine and has been a physician with the Virginia Cancer Institute since 1996.
Outside the office, Dr. Trent enjoys a good game of bridge or poker and can be seen on the links when he has the opportunity. He makes his home in Richmond.
